a far cry from one another...
A Far Cry Collective was founded in 2020 by artists Lana Svirezheva and Tess Glen. Lana and Tess met at Edinburgh College of Art in 2014 where they shared a studio, as well as ideas about life, love, and art. Recently, after finding themselves based in new cities (Honolulu and Glasgow), a far cry away from one another, they were compelled to create a space to adorn together, a virtual interior where they could house their artwork and handmade clothes.
In 2021, Claire Thom (clairecansew) joined the collective. Based in Edinburgh, Claire finds inspiration in beautiful, unusual fabrics some of which are recycled. She makes gorgeous handmade items like pods, Go Everywhere Tops and drawstring pouches.
Named after the Muriel Spark novel ‘A Far Cry From Kensington’ the collective aims to reflect Lana and Tess’ explorations of their new homes as well as their love of poetry, painterly gestures, mottled interiors, kitsch, and art history, which drives their common aesthetic. Both feel that the domestic sphere is a rich setting for creative activity, with a significant tradition of artists before them.
A Far Cry Collective strives to give our customers all of the options to let their creativity run wild. We invite you to browse our site to find just what you have been looking for, and get in touch with any questions.
